
Nuts and Bolts
Ingredients
1 lb (450 gm) mixed salted nuts
½ lb (225 gm) cashews
½ lb (225 gm) peanuts
½ lb (225 gm) mini pretzels or pretzel sticks, broken in half
12 cups (440-gm box) Shreddies
12 cups (335-gm box) Cheerios
1 cup (250 mL) peanut oil
1 cup (250 mL) butter, unsalted and melted
2 tbsp (30 mL) Worchestershire sauce
1 tbsp (15 mL) garlic salt
1 tbsp (15 mL) celery salt
1 tbsp (15 mL) seasoned salt
Directions
In your biggest roasting pan, combine first six ingredients, mixing well. Pour on oil/butter mixture, stirring together well, then add seasonings and combine thoroughly. Bake at 200F/100C for two hours, stirring frequently (about every 15 minutes). When cool, pack into plastic bags to freeze or jars to give as gifts. This makes a large batch so you can easily halve the recipe. Be careful not to spill when stirring!
