It won't be long now: in a matter of weeks, diners will be enjoying not just supper, but breakfast, lunch and everything in between when the Saltscapes Restaurant & General Store opens its doors at the Truro Power Centre.

General Manager Angela Steeves says the floors are almost finished, the final touches are being put on the kitchen and the grand fieldstone fireplace in the main dining room is complete.

The design of the restaurant and store, says co-owner and Saltscapes co-publisher, Jim Gourlay, will be new, but it won't feel "shiny." He says the ambiance will be "comfortable, inviting and old-fashioned."

He adds that customers will have a hand in shaping the restaurant's menu for the first year. "Patrons will be asked what they'd like to see on the menu," he says. "That's in keeping with the general Saltscapes business philosophy: ask people what they want, then give it to them at a higher quality than they expect."
