Lillian Allbon Cumberland County Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization run mainly by volunteers. It provides a loving home for stray or neglected cats and dogs—or animals that people can no longer care for—while they wait to be adopted. The independent shelter can accommodate up to 25 cats and 12 dogs; it’s committed to a “no kill” policy, the exceptions being if there’s a serious illness or dangerous behavioural problem. 

The onset of each season brings excitement about different ways of doing things. We’ve just closed the doors on the pleasant days of Indian summer and the warmth of the coloured leaves. Now it’s time to embrace the debut of the chilly season.  

YOU WILL NOTICE (or you may not) that Saltscapes has changed size slightly with this issue. It’s a small thing for you, the reader, but a big deal for us in terms of the logistical changes that must be made internally, so we’ve been working and planning and fretting for some considerable time. Ours is an industry where millimetres matter.
