My issue of Saltscapes arrived in the mail today. Whoohoo.... the highlight of the day. Being a transplanted Nova Scotian and now living up here in Hamilton I look forward to my favourite magazine arriving so it can take me back home, at least for a few moments.

I was pleased with the article “Domesticating our Codfish” (January/February)—it’s timely and true. Only correct and respectful use of our marine wildlife can possibly replenish any desired fish species. I am acquainted with a salmon-raising project locally that was supposed to do great things but was terminated after considerable wastage of money.

My husband and I are originally from Nova Scotia but have lived in British Columbia for over 30 years. We have held on to my parents’ “little yellow cottage” in Chester Basin and try to get home to visit every summer.
