Valley of the Kings

Written by Alain Bossé. This article was published in the July/August 2009 issue.

Sean Buckland is a familiar figure in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley and beyond. As a talented sommelier and co-founder of Valley Wine Tours,, he has led tasting tours to some of the world’s best-known wine regions. But this time Sean puts down his glass and instead raises a fork to salute a sampling of the Valley’s best food.

In collaboration with chefs from some of the area’s fine dining restaurants, Sean has compiled recipes for a book—Annapolis Valley Tastes—that is both a pictorial and a culinary journey. Recipes such as Lobster Risotto with Coral Butter, Farm Chicken with Nova Scotia Riesling and Chanterelles, and Highbush Blueberry-Lemon Delight will have you raising a glass saying “salute” to the region’s riches.
