[New 2016] - Rousseau Chocolatier
What’s better than chocolate? Not much, especially when it’s hand made, gourmet-quality chocolate. Meet Nathalie Morin and Julien Rousseau-Dumarcet of Halifax’s Rousseau Chocolatier, makers of handmade chocolate confections, French macarons, and gourmet brownies.
Julien has been a chocolatier and pastry chef for the past 14 years, and worked for many shops and hotels throughout France, the UK, and Canada. From the time he and Nathalie met in 2008, they shared a common dream to one day open their own chocolate shop. Nathalie says, “The dream quickly started becoming real as we worked our way through Europe, saving money and collecting the necessary skills to accomplish our goal.” After much consideration, the couple chose Halifax as the place to settle and begin their new life and new business.
With a shop on Hollis Street in Halifax, a thriving online shopping site, and products in selected stores around the province, Rousseau Chocolatier has been tempting taste buds and thrilling customers since their beginning. They love living here, too. Nathalie says, “We love the ocean, which was a big factor in choosing to settle here as opposed to larger cities. Nova Scotia offers the best quality of life. We also discovered, after much research, that the area had a virtually untapped niche market for fine handmade chocolates.” It was a match made in heaven—chocolate heaven, that is.
Nathalie and Julien are excited to be coming to Expo to share their products with new customers. The many exquisite products are made with the finest chocolate and although the recipes are top secret, many use locally sourced ingredients. Where else can you get a Moose Lolly or Orange Balsamic Caramel? Or a white chocolate, Haskap berry and cranberry bar? Or a Red Lobster Lolly? Check them out for yourself at SSX2016.
