Canoe Cove Studio

Meet the Glass Alchemists: Shelley and Chris of Canoe Cove Studio, Rice Point, PEI

It’s a little like magic, watching the transformation of fused glass into works of exquisite art. Christopher Jette and Shelley Beckett Jette have been making magic with glass since 1992 from their studio in Rice Point, PEI, outside of Charlottetown. Their line of fused glass items, called INFERNO, features tableware, ornaments, beads and pendants, as well as one-of-a-kind, custom designed products for their customers. Chris is an architect by training and is self-taught in glassworking; Shelley manages sales, production, product design and development.

The Jettes’ art pieces are found in such varied locations as Epcot Centre, Florida; the Smithsonian, Washington; the National Museum of Civilization, Ottawa, and the Nature Company, Paris, France. They’ve been exhibitors at Saltscapes Expo in past years, and we welcome them back this year. Chris Jette says, “We love the mix of exhibitors at Expo—a great cross-section of the population from across the region—and love the huge variety of visitors who get to know about us as a result of the show.” Check them out for yourself at this year’s show!
